No Man's Sky - Constructive Criticism

I haven't actually played No Man's Sky, but from the negative feedback that I've seen towards it and the gameplay and review videos that I've watched, I can compile a way to address the game's issues and to improve upon the gameplay. I was inspired to write this after a conversation with a friend about the game's shortcomings and potential.

Problem: Infinite Universe - Infinite Boredom
No Man's Sky suffers from a boring gameplay loop. You go from planet to planet, look at the procedurally generated animals, maybe kill a few, gather some resources, look around for points of interest, and move on to another pretty world. While the exploration aspect can be intriguing at first, it would naturally get quite dull very fast, as the worlds you visit are largely meaningless and lifeless, despite the creatures inhabiting them. The worlds feel that way because there is not much to interact with. Now, there are players who enjoy this sort of "serene" walking simulator experience, but most were disappointed.

Suggestion
The game lacks meaningful lifeforms and interaction with them. For the sequel, since this is a large undertaking but a necessary one given the scope of the game, the developer should keep the tech they use for generating the worlds, but also add procedurally generated intelligent life. The civilizations should be at different stages in their development. This could be alien stone age tribes, kingdoms in medieval times, or bustling planets filled with cities from the space age. However, the main purpose of these civilizations is to have something the player can interact with and influence. You won't just be observing the civilization, they will react to your presence and maybe involve you in their tasks and politics. Now that would truly be a game with infinite gameplay potential, only limited by the intelligence of the generating algorithm. To summarize, the game that would be satisfying would be a combination of No Man's Sky, Spore, and Star Trek.

Did I miss any other important problems with the game? Have more suggestions on how to fix these problems? Let me and the developers know in the comments.
