Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor - Constructive Criticism

I found Shadow of Mordor to be a very enjoyable game. However, despite its innovative features and fun combat, I have found some things to question and dislike. Let's discuss them.
P.S: For the sake of simplicity, I will be calling Uruks - Orcs.

Problem 1: Targeting
Considering that combat is the core of this game, the weak combat targeting system that makes you attack the wrong enemy or your own minions is pretty annoying.

Suggestion:
Highlight the target you will attack if you press the attack button. Also, make your own minions untargettable in combat. I don't see the point in purposefully attacking your dominated Orcs when in the heat of battle.

Problem 2: To Be or not to Be
Quite often when I was fighting a captain after unlocking wraith's domination ability, I was not able to dominate him because either another dominated Orc kills him or because there are too many enemy Orcs around to give me enough time to go through the domination procedure. I was relieved to discover that there is a system of cutscenes that happen when the captain/warchief is about to die, during which you are given a choice to kill or dominate said officer. However, this system does not trigger often for some reason.

Suggestion:
Always show the mini-cutscene where you get to choose to kill or dominate when the captain/warchief is about to die, regardless of what kind of attack he is hit with last or who hit him last. Maybe this system was just in place exclusively for the warchief battles, but I would like that same system for captains as well.

Problem 3: Story and Characters
I was not particularly interested in the story or the characters. There were too few quests relating to the current set of supporting characters. When it came to the story, I felt like I was helplessly watching everything unfold rather than have any say in what happens and in what way.

Suggestion:
Add branching storyline to give players choice and add replayability value to the game. Also, add more characters that you can do side-quests for to advance your relationship with that character. I would like to see some dynamic missions with non-Orc characters as well.

Problem 5: Dominated Orcs
The things you can do with dominated Orcs, and specifically the officers, is pretty limited. You can get intel from them, send them to fight another officer, and drain them. That's about it, which is unfortunate since domination is a unique and fun to use feature, although it feels not worth the effort to use in its current state.

Suggestion:
Let players do more things with dominated Orcs. Some ideas are:
  • Make officer and his troops occupy an area that you will be doing quests in so they can provide you with support.
  • Call Orc reinforcements when in trouble.
  • Order a dominated officer to capture a hostile officer so that you can dominate him.
  • Give orders from Sauron’s Army screen.
Also, already dominated Orcs should be faster to take over to access the domination options screen. You should not need to go through the whole "Forfeit your mind" sequence. It just becomes a nuisance and an extra "loading screen".

Problem 6: Disappearance Trick
After dominating an Orc and releasing him, they somehow disappear. I am assuming that this is meant to prevent intel farming without having to clog computer memory on remembering who you already mind drained. It seems like an easy-way-out solution to this problem that ends up creating an issue of not being able to use that Orc in the current area as backup. You also can't gain intel and give a command to an officer in one drain.

Suggestion:
The current easy-way-out does not make sense from gameplay perspective, but I am unsure what would be an alternative to just saving the fact that the Orc has been drained. That information could then be released when you walk away far enough.

Problem 7: Continuity of the Maps
When you advance from the first map to the second one, first map does not seem to matter anymore. That is a strange choice on the developer's part, since they have dynamic missions and officers to dominate on both maps.

Suggestion:
Connect the events and your influence in the two maps by showing both maps on the map screen. The maps can have a loading screen in between them when traveling, but I would like to see events on both maps at all times. Also, the Sauron's Army screens can be combined so that there are 8 warchiefs instead of 4 and there are twice the captains to dominate as well.

Did I miss any other important problems with the game? Have more suggestions on how to fix these problems? Let me and the developers know in the comments.
